Being a teenager is never an easy job, and especially not when you are a teenager, who decides to follow an unconventional path in life.

Who would know that better than Gabrielle Christian, the gorgeous brunette, who we best know from her role on South of Nowhere!

Gabrielle has always appeared to be a revolutionary young woman on the show, in which she portrays the character of a lesbian.

The move was no easy one, especially considering that she made it big, so early on in her career.

There was the risk of falling into a stereotype, and of being hated by all the anti-gay groups across the country. But regardless of all that, she took the plunge and accepted the challenge that many had chickened away from.

Needless to say, it was a great decision; not just for her as an individual, but even for her career. She went on to become an overnight sensation, and is now one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry.

However, the journey this far hasn’t been an easy one.

When asked what the most difficult part of it has been, Gabrielle responded by saying that it was the parental pressure. That was something that she had to face both on-screen and off-screen.

The actress revealed that her father is a staunch Roman catholic, which is why it was shocking for him to consider the prospect of his daughter going gay, even if it was just for a television role. He didn’t approve of what he saw in the pilot episode and is still not in favor of the profession chosen by his daughter.

Gabrielle had to face a similar situation with her on-screen mother, who was appalled by her daughter’s homosexuality.

The actress revealed that the scenes, where she had to go against her mother on the show, made her cry, as she thought of all the young girls, who really had to go through this in their real lives.

If you wish to see the mother-daughter equation that has developed between them on the show now, you can download the latest South of Nowhere episodes to do so.

South of Nowhere is among our most cherished shows, brimming with teenage characters.

Do you remember the young cast of the show?

Gabrielle Christian, Matt Cohen, Mandy Musgrave, Chris Hunter, Rob Moran, Maeve Quinlan and Valery Ortiz appeared as the full time cast of the show. It’s been a great treat to watch them performing. Do you agree with me?

The stars, which appeared on the show as guest performers include Danso Gordon, Austen Parros, Aasha Davis and Eileen April Boylan.

Since the show wrapped its run in the year 2008, you need not feel desponded, as still the entertainment-rich series hasn’t got slipped out of your hands. It is available online!

So, all those who feel nostalgic like anything about the series, can download the same to feel easy and entertained.

South of Nowhere introduced Carlin family, which tried their best to adjust themselves in an altogether new environment. Moving from their native place in Ohio, to Los Angeles, the family experienced a strange life ahead.

Apart from this one, The N channel has already broadcasted numerous shows pertaining to pragmatic subjects like drug abuse, homosexuality, adoption, infidelity, contraception, step families, peer pressure, religion and many more. South of Nowhere, the teen drama series is one such exceptional series.

Apart from the unique theme on which its stories were weaved, the show has, for the first time ever, introduced gay teenagers, as a part of the main characters on the show.

See how open and free our society has become. There is free flow of communication, expressions of thoughts and beliefs.

The half an hour show produced about 40 episodes before it came to a final halt.

Phew! What a tremendous journey that was.

The South of Nowhere was, is, and will always remain one of my favorite television series of all time.

We have come a long way from the Stone Age to this era of extravagant technological advancements.

However, this so called modern and civilized world we brag about is more of a sham, owing to its incapability to accept certain unconventional yet natural realities of the society.

The issue of bisexuality and its complete acceptance has assumed the shape of an irking problem that has been lagging for ages. Bisexuals are looked down upon and treated as criminals even today, in many parts of the world.

For a bisexual to live a life of dignity is a daunting task due to the blatant reluctance and hatred of people. The positive response is either lacking or lukewarm.

In case you happen to watch South of Nowhere – an American teen drama series; you will be familiar with the characters of Ashley Davies and Spencer Carlin.

The plot of South of Nowhere revolves predominantly around a family who moves from Ohio to Los Angles. Dazed and confounded as they are by the glamour and glitz of the city, they decipher that it’s a bit too fast for them.

As the story unfolds, it reveals how they cope with this change and their own little yet significant dilemmas. It focuses on the relationship of Spencer Carlin and Ashley Davies who is a bisexual.

Although the show initially created a slight upheaval owing to its controversial theme, later on it received outstanding reviews. It became the first television show ever to have gay teenagers as the lead characters.

If you missed this show, do watch this one of its kind show named South of Nowhere online. The multitude of viewership indicates the beginning of true acceptance of bisexuality by the people. Yet this is limited to selected areas of the world.

Let’s hope that the society assumes responsibility to accept and befriend such people. They need to be loved, cared for, respected and regarded like any normal person. Whatever we are sent as is a gift of God.

If you respect yours, don’t despise someone else’s, just because it’s a bit different.

South of Nowhere is one of the finest contributions made by the television industry to the lives of those who got exposed to this sublime creation.

A few years ago, a television series having two lesbian protagonists would’ve been dismissed as a figment of some pervert’s imagination, but South of Nowhere made it possible, and at the same time, gained a lot of love.

At the center of this uniquely themed show was the love story of Spencer Carlin and Ashley Davies, lovingly dubbed by the audiences as ‘Spashley’. Now, the biggest criticism of this show was that beyond all the issues of sexual and racial identity, it was still just a teen drama show.

That for me is not a flaw, simply because teenagers will still be teenagers, but it’s the problems that they face, whether its peer pressure or drugs, that was the underlying theme of South of Nowhere.

Spencer Carlin was the small town girl from Ohio who was finding her feet in the fast moving city of Los Angeles when she bumped into the quintessential bad girl, Ashley Davies. The north and south poles came closer and voila! Sparks flew……

Not only did their coming together showcase the ethnic and cultural diversities present in America, but also opened up a can of worms, where widespread homophobia among their near and dear ones came forth.

The chemistry between the two leading ladies, Gabrielle Christian and Mandy Musgrave was just explosive, right from the start, and proved to be the tipping point when it came to the popular opinions.

Spencer was the confused girl, while Ashley was the outgoing, party girl, and the two fought bitterly with each other, only to realize their unconditional love.

And their love affair was a torrid one as well; there was plenty of screaming, passionate reunions, steamy love making and a little measure of infidelity as well.

The credit must go out to the writer for writing such beautiful, interloping homosexual characters without adhering to the set stereotypes. Although the show was cancelled after three glorious seasons, it still remains a must watch. South of Nowhere has spawned many online fan forums, specially dedicated to Spashley!

No! I am not attempting a Katy Perry.

I am merely trying my hand at explaining Gabrielle Christian’s actions.

Gaby, who is straight, has gone out, all guns blazing and has filmed a song titled “Kissing Mandy”.

Yes. This is the same Mandy, who used to be her co-star in South of Nowhere.

Though straight, Gaby has recorded it for her lesbian fans.

Well I guess, where there’s a market, there’s a product.

As far as the song is concerned, I would say that it’s a little too much.

You can watch South of Nowhere (miss it and catch it online), and you would know what the song is all about.

Though taking this fact with a grain of salt is advisable.

The songs available for a meager sum and although the songs not at all a Michael Jackson, it will surely soar, courtesy all the gay fans, that our darling Gaby is so fond of milking.

On kissing her co-star, she said that although it was a pretty easy affair, it did require a wee bit of imagination.

Now what do I mean by that?

Let me elucidate!

‘Cause the girls were straight!

While kissing, they both tried to pretend the hardest, that the one they were kissing, was a boy.

Tough luck, eh?

I don’t see that plan working, but whatever the plan, the kiss happened, and happened so well, and I mean OH SO WELL, that a song got made out of it!

She kissed a girl and she liked it!

What?

The theme called for it!

Well, it feels nostalgic to talk about your favorite show, after it goes off-air.

I know you can still download the show of your liking, but it’s never the same, is it?

I mean, I still do the same with South of Nowhere, but I wish the show had something new to offer.

However, if it ends on a happy note, the memories of the show remain fresh in your heart.

Keeping this in mind, let’s stroll down the memory lane and recall the finale episode of the incredible teen drama, South of Nowhere.

The show is nothing short of a spectacle, as it deals with everything, including homosexuality, teen problems, peer pressure, sex and infidelity, to name a few.

The show is a great attempt, as it highlighted anything and everything that a teen goes through. But the best part about it is that, the series concluded with a happy ending.

The finale episode is one of my favorites, which is I want you guys to accompany me. So let’s begin the ride and get into flashback mode.

In episode 40 of season 3, things got smoother, as everyone tried to get to the next stage of life. Chelsea and Glen got physical and took the last, but definitely not the least, step in their loving relationship.

Also, Kyla and Aiden finally made up and got back to their relationship with the notion of getting married in Las Vegas.

As Cameron tried to flirt with Ashley, she threw her out of her life. She asked Spencer to drop the idea of going to Boston, as she was ready for complete commitment. Spencer agreed and moved in with her.

Well, this is how this wonderful drama ended.

Wasn’t that a beautiful note to bid farewell?

I’m sure you must have enjoyed the brief ride into memory lane.

But as they say, all beautiful things are short-lived, so was this show!

Sob, sob!

With most of the celebrities engaging themselves in numerous charity events and shows, one is bound to wonder whether charity and social causes are their genuine concerns, or merely publicity stunts and a medium of staying in the news. Even though this may stand true for many attention-seeking celebrities, but if you think that this is the case with Gabrielle Christian as well, then you are surely wrong.

Gabrielle, who brought life to the upfront role of a lesbian in her famous show, ‘South of Nowhere’, is quite honest in her real life as well. Before you jump to any conclusion, let me assure you that I don’t mean that she is homosexual in her real life too. When I say ‘honest’ I mean that she despite being a celebrity, she genuinely has a soft corner for humanity.

She is the kind of a person who keeps her good work under the wraps, unlike other celebrities who hop around to get a column in newspapers or a page on their web for their good deeds.

Gabrielle is a person whose work speaks for itself, as she constantly help her mother in her organization called SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Her mother created this organization after the sudden death of her son in year 1991 and since then, Gabrielle played a constant and significant role in it.

In order to keep her deceased brother’s memory alive, Gabrielle uses Christian as her middle name. Along with it, Gabrielle is a well-known spokesperson of the Fair Fund, an organization known for its persistent efforts to encourage the youth against domestic violence, sexual harassment and last but not the least, trafficking.

Well, hats-off to the lady for not only contributing her bit to the society, but also maintaining a low profile about it!
